Ryan Burroughs is an attorney practicing in the areas of elder law, estate planning and estate administration.

Ryan earned his J.D. degree magna cum laude from Widener University Commonwealth Law School. While in law school, Ryan was awarded the ALI CLE Scholarship & Leadership Award and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Estate Planning, and he served as an Academic Success Fellow. Ryan holds an M.B.A. degree from Oklahoma State University and a bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida.

Prior to joining Long Brightbill, Ryan worked as an Elder Law Paralegal with another firm while attending law school. After law school, Ryan continued working at this previous firm as an Elder Law Attorney, where he helped individuals and their loved ones navigate a range of legal issues ranging from Medical Assistance Long-Term Care (“MA-LTC”) planning, estate planning, special needs planning, and estate administration. Ryan then transitioned to serve as Assistant Counsel in the Governor’s Office of General Counsel, where he represented the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Specifically, Ryan advised and counseled the Department on the administration of and eligibility for MA-LTC and Home- and Community-Based Services, Special Needs Planning, and compliance with federal and state statutes, regulations, and guidance regarding Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (“SNAP”), while also advising executive leadership on many other complex legal issues facing the Department.

At Long Brightbill, Ryan counsels clients and their families about issues facing older individuals and disabled persons, including long-term care planning and asset protection, special needs planning, estate planning, and estate administration. Ryan’s mission is two-fold: one, to help members of our community prepare for some of life’s more difficult challenges, including aging, illness, nursing home admissions, and death; and two, to walk with clients and their families as they deal with these issues when they occur, providing legal advice to ensure our most vulnerable population receives quality care, while also preserving a legacy for their loved ones.

Ryan lives in Lebanon with his wife and their two dogs. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys spending time outside cycling, hiking, camping, fishing, and working on cars, or inside playing guitar, reading, cooking, and listening to music.
